The best thing about the coffee industry
We've been on a shopping spree this week! We have been puchasing more green coffee beans for roasting.
We have been sourcing some more Brazilian Yellow Bourbon beans as these are a favourite for many of our customers. Sadly, the farm in Brazil that we normally get these beans were subject to a series of unfortunate weather events which destroyed their crops this season. We are just going through the process of tasting Brazilian Yellow Bourbon beans from alternative farms so we can keep this product on our catalogue for all of our Yellow Bourbon lovers!
This week we also stocked up on more Papua New Guinea beans which are en route from Melbourne to our Perth roastery. "Amalgamated shipping" is common practice for green coffee beans coming from over East. In practice, this means that serveral roasteries (who are, in effect, competitors) share the same pallet load to improve shipping efficiencies for all. Our PNG beans are sharing a pallet with 4 other Perth local cafes and roasteries. I think this level of collaboration among industry participants has got to be one of the best thing about the coffee industry!
That's all for now, I'll leave you with some final words which we think sum up the coffee industry nicely: "Courtesy is a small act but it packs a mighty wallop" - Lewis Carroll
